MY BLOG:

May 8th, 2013

Busy last month so didn't get to be very active on the Blog...it paid off on the recruiting trail though!

Yesterday we signed our 5th player in the 2013 recruiting class, and it's a class that's come together as an extremely exciting one. We received an National Letter of Intent Tuesday from Marko Pirovic (Bolton, ON) who has had a phenomenal high school career. He's had experience competing at the highest levels for the Canadian Junior National Team in Brazil in 2012, was a two-time member of Team Canada's 3 vs 3 National Team, and was a two-time National Champion with Team Ontario. A skilled and versatile 6'7 forward, he adds ability to shoot it at a high %, handle the ball, rebounds, and has a high level motor!

Last week we signed Christian Ejiga (Nigeria) who is a tough and physical 6'9, 230pd inside presense. He is an excellent natural rebounder and shot-blocker who has developed a solid back-to-the-basket game that he will continue to refine. He has the chance to be an impact Big in the America East for years to come.

Another dynamic addition to the program is Troy Reid-Knight (Vaughan, ON) who is a decorated and proven winner and one of the toughest and most competitive guards I have seen over the last few years. He was a two-time OFSAA Champion playing alongside Andrew Wiggins (ESPN #1 Player 2013) at Vaughan, won numerous Championships with CIA Bounce, and placed 4th in the World with Marko on the Team Canada 3 vs 3 National Team in 2011. He is a high IQ floor general, knock down shooter, and lock down defender.

Erik Nissen (Quispamsis, NB) is a 6'9 superbly skilled young Big from New Brunswick who has absolutely huge upside. He has tremendous length, excellent defensive insticts as well, plays hard, and has a well rounded skill set that is only getting better. Sky is the limit for Erik and I'm excited to watch him continue to develop.

Last, but definitely not least is Garet Beal (Jonesport-Beals, ME) the Maine Gatorade State Player of the Year. Garet is a high-IQ, tough competitor as well and is extremely skilled scoring and creating from the wing.

Not only are all these guys excellent players, but they are also great people, very good students, and future leaders. This is one of the most exciting recruiting classes I have ever been a part of, and I can't wait to see what these guys can accomplish with our core group of returning players...GO BLACK BEARS!
