Coming to you LIVE from Liepaja, Latvia in the middle of a busy month for sure! July is the busiest time of the year for us as coaches, it's the key recruiting and evaluation period for the year. Last week I started off in Indianapolis, then flew down to Augusta, GA. Now I'm here in Latvia after leaving DC at 6pm on Tuesday and getting in yesterday at 1pm.
Latvia is not at all what I expected and is an absolutely beautiful country. From gourgeous rolling greenery in the countryside, to historic architechture in the city, amazing coastlines, and beautiful people. I got a heads up from friends that have been here, but it's unbelievable!
Heading to the gym now to watch some games, and will be heading to Ventspils, Latvia tomorrow to check out more games.
This is definitely one of the amazing parts of choosing coaching as a career...it's taken me to places I never would have imagined, and met people I never would have otherwise. Definitely a blessing and I am very thankful for it.
All the best from Latvia, be in touch soon!

First off, let me say HAPPY CANADA DAY to all my fellow Canadians out there!
Extremely busy the last month and a half, so I unfortunately didn't get to do any kind of Blog entry in June. The good news is, what I've been busy with has been moving the family from Maine to DC as I was hired as an assistant coach at American University!
We really enjoyed our time in Maine and appreciated the opportunity to represent UMaine from 2011-2013. I got the chance to work with some great young men, was a part of some talented teams, and my family and I really loved the lifestyle there, the people, and the beauty of nature in "Vacationland". I definitely wish everyone associated with the Black Bears program well in the future, and look forward to following the team next year.
It's been a smooth transition so far at American and in DC, and everyone here has welcomed us with open arms. Washington is a world-class city with so much history, culture, and diversity. American University has a lot to offer as well with an absolutely beautiful campus, phenomenal academics, and a tremendous athletic department with a rich tradition.
Very exciting time here for AU men's basketball with the hiring of Head Coach Mike Brennan back on April 30th. The full staff is now in place and it is a great group of guys and accomplished coaches. Great things to come here at AU and I am definitely pumpped up to be a part of it!
Getting ready to head out on the road soon for July recruiting, but wanted to get caught up with the site. Please check out the re-designed www.NatePhilippe.com and GO EAGLES!!
