December 6th, 2013
Hard to believe it's already December and Christmas and New Year's are just around the corner...crazy how fast time flies! During the season especially it feels like life is in fast forward, we're constantly looking ahead and planning for our next game, and the work to prepare doesn't stop.
We're coming off two big wins and our team is playing well right now. This past week we beat St Fracis (PA) 75-43 on the road, then got another W on Wednesday vs Howard 76-53. We have been playing really well on the defensive end, have improved rebounding on both ends, and our guys have been very unselfish making the extra pass and sharing the ball. Right now we are 16th in the country in scoring defense (59.8 ppg), 10th in 3pt field goal defense (24%), and 43rd in field goal percentage defense (38.9%)!
On a personal note, our family will be celebrating my son Isaac's 4th birthday next week. He's getting bigger everyday and is growing up so fast. Isaac is one of the biggest blessings in my life and he makes everyday so much brighter. His birthday party is on Sunday and it'll be a great time celebrating our little big man.
The other news that came out yesterday was the passing of Nelson Mandela. He is one of the true heroes of our generation and a truly inspirational and powerful human being that touched the lives of millions around the world. I had the opportunity to read his autobiography 'Long Walk to Freedom' years ago, and it was one of the most impactful books I have ever read. Despite extreme hardship and hate that he experienced for most of his life, he lived with grace, dignity, and wisdom, and worked tirelessly for equality and civil rights for everyone. He left a legacy that will live on for generations, and he will be missed by many.
Next up we have the Brown Bears of the Ivy League at home tomorrow at 1:00pm...hopefully we can keep rolling. The game will be televised on Comcast as well if you aren't able to make it to the game. I will have both Nelson Mandela and my son Isaac on my mind for the game and hopefully we can win the game in their honor...GO EAGLES!
