Very busy this week, but wanted to make sure to keep everybody up to date. Just had UMaine media day the other day, and Tuesday was America East media day in Albany.
Congratulations to all our guys who were named to Pre-Season All-Conference teams: College Sports Madness.com named Justin Edwards & Ali Fraser 1st Team and Mike Allison 2nd Team All-Conference. The America East conference coaches also voted Ali Fraser 1st Team All-Conference!
Although Pre-season picks and awards don't win games on the floor or mean much in the big picture, it's definitely great for our guys' hard work and talent to be recognized wether it be by the media or our conference's coaching fraternity.
Huge day tomorrow as we open our season with our home opener at Alfond Arena, an exhibition game vs University of Laval from Quebec at 12pm. We are extremely excited to play against someone else after our guys have been battling each other day-in-day-out in practice and workouts. It's been an excellent pre-season so far, and we are very excited about our team! This is what we've all been looking forward to since April and I'm definitely pumped and can't wait for gametime!
Thanks to everyone who supports our program including fans, coaches, and media, and we look forward to continued support throughout the season! GO BLACK BEARS!

Things are really starting to pick up with our 1st exhibition game only 10 days away! Crazy how fast the off-season flew by, now it's the official coutdown to gametime!!
Our guys had a great time Friday with Mignight Madness, that we called "Shoot, Slam, & Shuffle". Justin Edwards won the dunk contest and pulled out some ridiculous stuff, including a 360 windmill, through the legs, and a toss off-glass windmill. Zarko Valjarevic also pulled out some nice tricks I didn't know he had in his arsenal, and gave Justin a little competition in the finals.
Bangor's own Luke Hettermann, came out of nowhere and ended up pretty much single-handedly winning the dance contest for our guys vs the Women's team!
Sometimes a picture (or video) is worth a thousand words, so check out the You Tube highlights below...it was definitely good times! Check for more updates on our team and the Black Bears Basketball You Tube channel coming soon!

Been playing catch up this week after getting back into town late Tuesday night from an awesome trip to Halifax with the family. Luckily Fall Break coincided with Canadian Thanksgiving, so I got to celebrate with the in-laws in Nova Scotia and have not one, but two phenomenal turkey dinners!
Also got a chance to visit my alma mater, St. Mary's University, and check out the major renovation that was completed this year with the athletic facilities. When I played at SMU, our gym was known as "The Tower" and it served as my 2nd home. The facility has now been renamed the Homburg Center and they've done a tremendous job with the upgrades. Also got to see the SMU Women's team in action for their home opener vs. Calgary and was at the Halifax Metro Center to see the hometown Toronto Raptors in action for their intra-squad game.
Exciting week this week also with the official start of practice tomorrow kicked off with Midnight Madness events across the country! We will be doing our own tomorrow night at 9pm at the New Balance Recreation Center called "Shoot, Slam, and Shuffle"! We'll have a dunk-contest highlighted by the high-flying Justin Edwards, a 3pt contest, and a dance contest between the Men's & Women's teams. Looking forward to it and we're hoping to get a great crowd out and introduce our exciting team to all the Black Bear fans...GO BLACK BEARS!

So here we are, October already! Time is absolutely flying by now, and we are now only 10 days away from the official start of practice and 20 days away from our 1st Exhibition game vs University of Laval!
We've had 3 team workouts and have been working hard in inviduals and in the weightroom, and there is no doubt excitement around our program is extremely high. We have a very exciting group that is fun to work with, and bring excellent energy, focus, and effort in everything that we've been doing so far this year.
Our talent level top to bottom, size, athleticism, and work ethic are all improved from last season, and there is no doubt that everyone associated with our program is excited about what we could accomplish.
ESPN announced recently this year's coverage of the America East Conference, and it is the largest TV package in conference history. Available in more than 73 million households, the America East will have 36 games broadcast on the ESPN family of networks (44% increase from last season). This includes the 26th straight year that the Men's Basketball Championship will air on ESPN or ESPN2.
We also have awesome news coming soon regarding our facilities, and other exciting developments around our program...stay tuned!
On another note, I've made some updates to my Biography section and added a photo gallery, would love to get your feedback on the changes. Thanks to everybody for the support, and GO BLACK BEARS!
