Just got done with shoot-around at the Prudential Center getting ready to play the Seton Hall Pirates from the BIG EAST at 7pm tonight here in Newark, NJ. Been very busy the last couple of weeks with our first 3 games of the season, but making sure to stay consistent and keep up to date.
It's been a disappointing start to the season, but we are looking to turn it around tonight vs Seton Hall. We really like our guys and our team, and this is a team that will continue to develop and get better as we progress with the season.
The big news this week was Garet Beal from Jonesport-Beals here in Maine signing his National Letter of Intent to join the Black Bears family beginning in 2013-14! We're very excited about Garet signing with us, and look forward to him getting on campus. He is a skilled and versatile player who will definitely give us a boost on the wing.
Countdown's on for our matchup with Seton Hall...pumped up and ready to go! GO BLACK BEARS!

Gotta love the power of technology; right now I'm writing this Blog entry on our bus heading to New Hampshire for our regular season opening game vs Dartmouth! A few years ago I wouldn't have been able to even imagine this kind of capability.
On another note, in my last post I told you that I would let you know when my interview on Sportsnet FAN 590 would be airing...just found out it'll be on Sunday morning from 7-8am EST. Now I know what you're thinking and yes, that's early. The good news is, again thanks to the beauty of technology, the interview will also be podcast on the Sportsnet FAN 590 website. Through the link you can listen to it anytime it's convenient. I'm definitely excited and thankful for the opportunity, hope you guys enjoy it!
The most important thing this weekend of course is our game vs Dartmouth College of the Ivy League tomorrow at 7pm. Dartmouth is coming off a tough year, but they have a talented core of Sophomores and added to that core with a talented group of 7 Freshman, so they will be a great test for us. Of course the fact it is their home opener will be a big boost for them.
On a lighter note, going back and looking through some of my old Blog entries, I noticed a pattern...most times I posted pictures of our players it's been my man Justin Edwards, so made sure to mix it up today and show some love to our other Canadian stud Mike Allison who was an All-Defensive Team pic last season, and is ready for ever bigger things this year...GO BLACK BEARS!

Just got done doing an interview with David Grossman from Sportsnet FAN 590. For those who don't know, it is the biggest Sports Talk Radio network in Canada, so I am really honored that they asked me to be a guest. I definitely believe in celebrating milestones, and this is a big one for me. Canada is close to my heart, and I really appreciate that I still get great support from everybody back home! David is someone I've known since my days as a High School Coach at West Hill back in 2008, and he does an excellent job and is truly passionate about basketball in Canada. The interview was recorded and will air on a future date, so I'll keep you guys posted!
On another note, we played our first exhibition game of the year on Saturday vs Laval from Quebec and came out with an 82-39 victory! Our guys played very well on both sides of the ball, but particularly on the defensive end we did a tremendous job of making them uncomfortable and taking them out of what they do.
Tomorrow we have our final test of the pre-season taking on a very talented Acadia University team from Wolfville, NS. Acadia is currently the #3 ranked team in the CIS and are 6-0 in the pre-season. Owen Klassen (6'10 F - Kingston, ON) is arguably the best big man in the country and was an All-Canadian last year. They also feature one of my former players, Jonathan Tull (6'3 - Ajax, ON) who transferred there from Central Connecticut St. He has the ability to fill it up as he showed with his 29pt (10/16 FG, 4/7 3PT) explosion vs my alma mater St. Mary's.
The game starts at 11:30am in the PIT before the Football game vs James Madison. Big week, and our regular season opener is now only 8 days away! GO BLACK BEARS!
