What a week, so much I could talk about today. My amazing wife Toni and I just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on the 27th. I am so blessed to have her in my life and she has made me the luckiest guy on the planet!

We also wrapped up our camps for the summer on Thursday morning with the end of our overnight camp. Not going to lie, 14hr days with 107 kids in a gym has it's challenges, but our campers and coaches were awesome the last 2 weeks. Kids bring such great energy, enthusiasm, and love for the game of basketball that it is really fun to be around and reenergizing. Always amazes me that on Day 5 of a camp that they played that much ball, kids are still sprinting to the ball rack to get in a game of knockout or play some 1 on 1.

The other big event this week was the NBA Draft. Big Congratulations to the 3 Canadian players drafted last night: Andrew Nicholson (#19-Orlando Magic), Kris Joseph (#51-Boston Celtics), and Robert Sacre (#60-L.A. Lakers)! This is another record for Canadians selected in the Draft, 1 more than last year when 2 of my former players, Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph were drafted.

Very exciting times for Canadian Basketball, and I am very happy for all these young guys and their families! What is it going to take for the Raptors to Draft a Canadian, I don't know...but you know the saying, "You snooze, you lose!"

Last night the Miami Heat won their first championship as the Big 3, so wanted to make sure and send congratulations their way. They played at an extremely high level throughout the season and the playoffs, and they played an exciting and entertaining brand of basketball.

There was a time I was a huge fan of D-Wade, LeBron and Chris Bosh, so part of me is happy for them. Of course Joel Anthony from Montreal is a complete warrior and I am extremely happy for him and proud of everything he's accomplished as a fellow Canadian!

The truth is though, with "The Decision" and everything that led up to this group being formed, and how they have carried themselves afterwards, it ultimately feels tainted to me and doesn't leave me with a warm & fuzzy feeling. The concept of buying an instant contender isn't one that I'm convinced is good for basketball or the NBA, and I'm sure a lot of Cavs and Raptors fans feel the same way today.

Bottom line though, congratulations to the Miami Heat and to the Thunder for tremendous seasons.

Haven't been keeping up to date with the Blog lately being out in LA so I take accountability and will definitely pick it up! My two trips out to Cali were absolutely phenomenal! My visits to LA were for a Leadership Program called M.I.T.T. (

The best way I can describe this program is it's a Self-Help workshop about the way we interact with the world, people around us, and ourselves. It's about living our lives to the fullest, goal setting, goal achievement, and creating positive change in the world. My 2 weeks with M.I.T.T. were two of the most powerful weeks of my life.

Thanks to all the amazing people that were part of my experience in LA. I now have new tools to be a better husband, father, coach, leader, and make positive change in our world! Self-improvement is something I've always been passionate about, and this was another huge step in becoming the best I can possibly be!

Just got back from L.A. the other day and just realized I haven't had a chance to blog about it. What an awesome trip! I am truly blessed I got a chance to hang out and celebrate with my brother Quddus as 'Duets' premiered on ABC last week to unbelievable reviews! My Mom and Dad were also in town as well...amazing. 'Duets' won the head-to-head battle vs 'So you think you can Dance', what a great place to start.

Not being biased, I think the show is tremendous. With the superstars being as involved as they are, it's like a free concert every week. So proud of my brother Quddus as well, he is in a zone and absolutely knocking it out of the park!!!

I also got the opportunity to do an amazing 5 day workshop about Maximizing our own potential and living our lives to the fullest...I'll save details of that for another day.

Much love everybody and make it a great weekend! - NCB
